Throughout the Song of the Sword, Lamech refers to the Curse or the Mark of Cain; should anyone kill Cain, he would be avenged sevenfold. However, Lamech states before and later that he has killed a man, and that the man was young; the problem here being, that Lamech never says who he killed, and neither does the Bible, or any of the apocryphal texts related to the Bible. The corresponds with ‘The Song of the Sword’ because it’s actually about the invention of the sword. The full poem is suspected to originate from the Book of the Wars of the Lord, another apocryphal text that isn’t substantiated, nor is it found. The Book is a lost text; often mentioned though gone from history. In other words, it might as well be Atlantis.
Other people have speculated from other gathered bits of texts and historical information, that it was in fact Lamech that killed Cain. The story goes thus: Lamech is eventually grown into an old man, and has gone mostly blind, Tubal-Cain, a seventh generation descendant of Cain, is leading him. Across the distance, Tubal-Cain sees something that he thinks is an animal, and so Lamech fires an arrow at it. When they get closer, they see it is actually a man, and that it’s Cain. Cain is still alive, because it’s also explained by other experts that early on people had extremely long lifespans.
In his sorrow, Lamech claps his hands together, and for some unexplained reason, this kills Tubal-Cain. As a consequence, his wives both leave him in their sorrow, making Lamech even more miserable. This is further explained in The Second Book Of Adam And Eve; another as of yet apocryphal text not included in the Bible. In this version, after discovering he’s killed Cain, Lamech again claps his hands together. However, Tubal-Cain is not named, instead he is called “the young shepherd.” After Lamech has clapped, he then delivers a blow to the head of “the young shepherd”, then again smashes the shepherd’s head with a rock to be certain that he is dead. Other versions claim that instead, Lamech’s wives would have nothing to do with him, because it was believed that the line of Cain was supposed to be destroyed after seven generations, so they refused to bear him any children or have sex with him.
